We moved up here from Florida in Fall 1998.
Florida is where we lived when we purchased our first keeshond in 1977.
We fell in love with the breed and soon learned they are habit forming.
We attemped to show our first kees in conformation and obedience.
We earned his CD and two legs on his CDX in obedience,
but went nowhere in conformation.
Sun-Kiss Keeshonden is located on the beautiful mountainous
Cumberland Plateau in East Tennessee.
This is what we look at out our back windows.
We learned the hard way what a good quality dog was and that he was NOT.
Even though he was just our pet, we found it was important to buy a good quality dog
because our first boy had several health issues.
Among the several health issues, he had hip dysplasia, so we were unable
to get that third leg on his CDX.
He also had a heart condition that killed him at age 7.
Thankfully we never bred him.
Sun-Kiss Keeshonden are owned and/or bred by
Donna & Ernest Williams
We were fortunate to meet several reputable breeders during our attempt in showing our first boy.
In 1981 we purchased our first TRUE show dog from Linda Cail and Cai-Lin Keeshonden.
He was our first conformation champion,
who we called 'K.C'. aka "CH Cai-Lin Sun-Kiss Klassic CD".
We actually showed, handled and finished him ourselves.
Of course Linda was great help in teaching us the ropes.
K.C. later became the sire to our first litter.
We purchased another male from Linda in 1983 after finishing K.C. and went on
to finish our second show dog, 'Dickens' aka "CH Cai-Lin British Ambassador".
Linda is no longer breeding but we are proud to say she has purchased
a keeshond from us, she showed and finished, "CH Sun-Kiss Richie"
Although we only went to a limited number of shows
we met many people through showing these boys and
were hooked by the show dog world !!!
Breeding was next !!! We looked long and hard for a good quality female
to use for breeding that would complement our two boys.
After our experience with our first kees we wanted to strive our best
to produce sound, healthy, beautiful, quality dogs
in hopes no one would have to go through what we did with our first kees.
We purchased our first brood bitch in 1988 from Carole Henry, Vandy Keeshonden.
She was named 'Star' aka "CH Vandys Procyon ROM.
Owner/handled, we showed and finished her championship.
Our success in breeding added a ROM to her name.
And so it began ------ our first litter arrived in 1990 and was a great sucess.
We finished our first home bred champion, our boy 'Billy' aka "CH Sun-Kiss Adonis".
His sister 'Nikki' aka "CH Sun-Kiss Aphrodite ROM soon followed finishing her Championship.
Nikki also proved her quality in the whelping box adding the title ROM.
Although we have only shown on a limited basis over the years,
we have Breeder/Owner/Handled numerous Kees to their championship.
The dogs we have shown or have sold to show homes have been Ovner/Handled and
received 5 point major wins, Best of Breed wins out of classes over noted specials and Group Placements.
Even dogs we have placed in novice show homes have Owner/handled their dogs to championships
Our goal, as long as we continue breeding, will be to strive to produce
sound dogs of good health, that move properly and are beautiful to look at.
